EVCOM, the Event & Visual Communication Association, announced the winners of this year’s EVCOM Live Awards at an impressive ceremony at exclusive pop-up venue Supernova London on Friday evening. Hosted by one of the UK’s most respected and established comedians Simon Evans, the Awards celebrated the best in live and experiential events produced over the last year in the UK.
The Agency of the Year award went to creative agency Smyle Group for demonstrating impressive growth in strategy, brand, employee and industry engagement; whilst Coralie Desoutter from the Stroke Association was crowned Peter Franks Rising Star. One of the night’s biggest winners was J. Walter Thompson London winning three gold awards and three bronze awards thus earning the group the coveted Platinum award for the second year running.
Other multi-award winners included Edcoms taking two gold, two silver and one bronze, Brandfuel winning two gold, one silver and one bronze, and TRO who went home with one gold, two silvers, one bronze and four highly commended awards.
Steve Garvey, EVCOM CEO, commented: ‘Live events agencies, their clients, suppliers and the media gathered to celebrate at the EVCOM Live Awards 2016, and they certainly celebrated with limitless enthusiasm. Never before have so many senior events people got down on one knee to break a world record and raise money for Meeting Needs, and never before has the standard of winning projects been so high. I’d like to thank all our guests, expert judges, sponsors and the EVCOM team headed by Andrew Winterburn and Harpreet Walia for a truly memorable evening.’
Eschewing the traditional raffle, EVCOM raised money for charity in a completely unique way by breaking a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title. All guests on the night were asked to take part in the largest group of people doing jazz hands and so became record breakers as well as raising money for Meeting Needs – a registered charity founded by leading figures in the UK conference and events Industry. Their objective is to raise funds for worthy causes which may not have the resources without additional contributions.
None of this invaluable recognition would have been possible without our generous sponsors who continue to champion industry creativity and best practice. Thank you for helping EVCOM deliver success to every one of the shortlist and the ultimate winners.
