For the second day of THE BIG SKILLS SHARE programme we welcomed three experts to deliver their thoughts and advice on the subjects of strategic events, remote broadcasting and recruitment! Across a fascinating range of discussion points, our sharers offered top tips, research and even a live studio tour! Thank you so much to Tony, Humza and Kevin for your contributions, and to everyone who tuned into our live sessions!

TONY EVANS

In a live interview, Tony Evans (EGI Live) shares his expertise on how to plan and design a strategic event in the current climate. He talks about the role of strategic events in forming space for conversations to take place, and advocates for a people-focused approach, talking about strategy in the context of a community journey. He shares some top tips for designing a great strategic event:

  1. Ask the question: “What difference do you want to make? What’s the change?”
  2. Put white space into your agenda and environment. Create time for people to be asked questions, to tell stories, to express themselves and to listen. “Change takes place in the conversation!”
  3. Embrace incompleteness and imperfection. The uncertainty is often where the magic appears.
