This International Women’s Day, EVCOM’s Executive Director Claire Fennelow interviews Sophia Ufy Ukor, Founder of Violet Simon. Violet Simon is here to amplify the voices of women from all walks of life using authentic storytelling to explore women’s lives, experiences, challenges, accomplishments, and milestones. They want to push for equitable representation and equality, entertain, inspire others and generate calls to action on key women’s issues.

They do this by providing women with a platform to share their stories, and access information and for young girls and women alike to gain insight and change the narrative. At Violet Simon, women are allowed and encouraged to be bold and take up space.

Given that only 0.5% of recorded history is about women’s stories, for change to happen and for a better society for women and young girls, we must amplify the voices and experiences of all women.
