Lee Spencer started XL Video’s UK operation in 2000 with friend and co-founder Chris Mounsor. They shared a common vision of how important video would become in live music having seen its growth in the events industry.
Over more than a decade, Lee Spencer developed XL Video from its roots in concert touring, expanding the company’s expertise into theatre, corporate events, TV and visual spectaculars, whilst maintaining the top position in concert touring.
As the figurehead of XL’s UK operation, Spencer built a team of highly experienced sales and operations staff. The UK operation was the largest in the XL Video group, and included the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert, and the 2014 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony amongst some of the prestigious events it served.
In 2015 Spencer was the UK Managing Director when the XL Video group was acquired by Production Resource Group. Staying on after the merger, Lee Spencer took on the newly created role of Commercial Director.
As an active Council Member of the PSA (Production Services Association), including a term as Chairman in 2007-08, Spencer has championed the association’s aims to represent, improve, educate and develop the business of technical production for live events. During Spencer’s involvement, the PSA has improved industry safety and introduced the Safety Passport program in conjunction with the Safety Pass Alliance.
PRG XL Video, under Spencer’s leadership, has won multiple awards including Favourite Video Services Company (TPI), Technical Supplier of the Year (Eventia), and Live Event of the Year (AV Awards).
