Thank you so much to our brilliant panelists, Jemma Peers (Top Banana), David Glenwright (JC Social Media) and Katie Morhen (52eight3) for sharing their social media insight, in this discussion facilitated by Charlotte Gentry (Pure Comms Group).

As we navigate this ever changing new normal, the group discussed the importance of tone. They stressed the importance of genuineness and positivity in current messaging and strategy, with a constant awareness of how a post would come across if seen sandwiched between two Covid-19 related posts, for example. They all agreed that creating effective and engaging social media was about creating social media with a purpose, social media that was going to add value to the person viewing it. And of course, bright, image or video based social media does make a difference in how much people interact with posts! Whilst the many algorithms on these platforms are difficult to manage, they shared their tips on how to work with them, and stressed the importance of an audience based approach, always listening to and thinking about the people who engage with your platforms.
