Some might question my entering the UK Top 50 for film production companies. After all, JulesCreativeContent.com is a very small company. But I like to think I’m making an impact, working on films I feel passionately about with experienced people who I trust as part of my team of freelancers.

I’ve been part of the board at EVCOM for a number of years now and so know this industry and the good people working in it very well. I’ve been both a judge and recipient of a number of awards and I’m particularly proud that these cover both Best Film on a Smaller Budget and Best Creative Direction.

I think it’s important for small as well as larger companies to enter the Top 50. The report, collated by Moving Image with both EVCOM and The British Film Institute as partners is one of the key ways we can access real data about what’s happening in our industry. While we’re seeing companies merging and incorporating others at the top end of the sector, I suspect we’ll see more of the small companies like my own doing very nicely as we move through the ranks. The Top 50 looks at more than just size, also considering industry recognition and the work being produced.

At the EVCOM London Live Awards last year I met Chris Godwin, Founder of Inner Eye Productions, whose company has won numerous accolades over the years. He was in at number 43 last year and he told me:
“It is a huge honour for my company to be included in the Top 50. As a small company to be sitting in among all the major players is a point of pride. I also like the way the selection is made, ie not totally focussed on turnover. Lovely to see the company scoring well in peer poll and awards. Also great for marketing of the business. “

At the other end of the scale, the larger companies also value being included. Dale Parmenter, Group CEO and Founder of DRPG (ranked #2 last year) told me how it’s good for them not just as a business opportunity but also for team morale:
“Being in the Corporate Top 50 film producers’ list is a brilliant accolade for the business. It demonstrates to clients and potential clients we are among the top corporate film producers in the country, which means they can be re-assured of high levels of creativity, quality and security. Being in the Top 50 is also great for the team, who work so hard at their craft, many times they are behind the scenes producing such amazing work, so this recognition is a huge and well-deserved boost for the team. We are all very excited to see the results of the 2026 list.”

And then there’s the person who brings it all together. Steve Garvey, CEO at Moving Image told me:
“The UK Top 50 is a catalyst for the brand and corporate film industry. It has reignited interest in this dynamic sector of the UK screen industries. But none of this would be possible without participation by production companies, and we will forever be grateful to everyone who enters.”

Steve also told me that the 2026 edition is going to be bigger and will feature even more information about production companies of all sizes, which is music to my ears.

So while I’m realistic that I may not feature in the list myself, I’m still very glad to enter. Because the value of the Top 50 isn’t just who appears in it. It’s the picture it creates of our industry. When the report is published it gives us insight into where corporate and brand film is heading and helps attract the recognition our sector deserves from both brands and government.

I hope to see you at the launch event on 25th March 2026 at the Everyman Kings Cross from 4.30-7pm. Register here
