Tell us about where you are now, and what you love about your job/ course.

I am a post-production runner at The Edge Picture Company, and I have been here for around three months. One thing I love most about my job is the people I am surrounded by and their positive attitude to work, it helps me keep positive and focused on the tasks at hand. My role is also quite hands because I have to make sure things are organised which I enjoy because I enjoy organising.

Tell us a bit about your journey to get there.

I enjoyed photography from a young age and studied it in school, then I became more interested in media as well as photography where I also started editing my photos during my A levels so I did both during my A levels however I wasn’t quite sure what I was interested in doing at university so I did a broad media course where I discovered my interest in editing and videography. Alongside university, I was a part of The Ghetto Film School where I learnt more about videography and video editing and from there, I decided I wanted to go into video editing.

For those readers still considering whether this industry is the right place for them, tell us what you most love about it. What appeals to you about this industry?

What I enjoy most about this industry is the freedom for creativity and new ideas, as the media industry is always changing, there is always a way for me to creatively develop new ideas to improve systems and understand new ways of public engagement. I also love that most days are different because you get to work on different projects in different field and it keeps the learning experience fun.

Looking forwards, what do you think the future of the industry is going to look like? What changes are you excited to see?

I think the further of the industry is hard to predict as the industry is changing every day but i am excited to see an increase in diversity and inclusion and the different ways the creative development of content will change.

If you could say one thing to the wider industry right now, what would it be?

I would say no idea is a silly idea, the media industry is a constant cycle of development so if you believe you have ideas of how things can improve when capturing the attention of a certain audience, share it.
