DRPG create surprise art installation to thank the NHS and key workers

DRPG created a surprise art installation with Worcestershire County Council to thank NHS and key workers last week. The installation can be found on Charles Hastings Way just outside Worcestershire Royal Hospital. Also following the rainbow theme, at 9 secs past 9 mins past 9pm (999), we projected a special video thanking our frontline workers which you can view here.

BCD M&E showcase how they’ve been looking into implementing Augmented Reality into their events and marketing

We’d been working with one of our clients on implementing Augmented Reality podiums into the expo area of their upcoming live event. This self-serve aspect of the delegate journey would allow them to digitally access the history of how these iconic brands developed to be the famous products they knew and loved. At the same time, we were also working on BCD M&E’s new marketing content for our Event Solutions creative arm.  We’d devised our “Made You Look” campaign to grab attention and decided to enhance it even further using the same Augmented Reality technology we had developed for our client event. We created our “Made You Look” book that, when scanned with Zappar, came to life and played our showreel. The App tracked the book perfectly, with the brick cover dissolving to display the video behind as the film progressed. Using print, in the form of a book, may seem traditional, but in Live Events we find it’s always beneficial to bring the right medium to the right application, and sometime to even combine them. By creating this statement print piece and combining it with new AR technology, we had something that was an attention grabbing, stand out piece of marketing. Of course, as part of our commitment to sustainability, the book was also printed on FCC approved paper on a carbon neutral printer. Old media meets new to tell a story.

Performing Artistes’ “Lockdown Dine in” is keeping us entertained during quarantine

A couple of weeks ago we also held our first “Lockdown Dine In” in partnership with DRPG, which had over 150 attendees logging into a virtual dinner party, hosted by Zoe Lyons. It was great fun, with wine expert Alice Lascelles pairing wines with the different courses and a quiz running during the course of the evening, with Zoe being helped out by Hal Cruttenden and freestyle rapper, Chris Turner. The feedback was superb, and really showed how high production values can be implemented online. Highlights can be found in the film above.

Following the success of last month’s Lockdown Dine In, we are putting on a second one on the 28th May @ 8.10pm, and we would invite you to attend! Hosted again by the inimitable Zoe Lyons, and in partnership with DRPG, she will be joined by Russell Kane and mind readers DNA, for an evening of food, beverages and a quiz!

This time there will be a BBQ theme, and for those who want to go for the full experience, we will send out a menu and drink suggestions 3 days before, so you can cook and mix along at home…but don’t worry, it’s not mandatory, and is only a small part of the evening!

Top Banana have been fostering a creative community through a podcast, masterclasses and bananas!

We have tried to maintain our creativity by reaching out to our community and employees – using their hidden talents to help us think creatively and outside the box during a time where it’s important to stay connected and open to new ideas. We’ve asked children to Bling a Banana, have asked our industry friends to speak on our podcast series, discussing thought provoking creative topics around their specialities and have asked our employees to showcase their creativity and passions through masterclasses in Yoga, DJ Sessions and Flower Arranging. To keep the momentum, we’ve also branched out to our extended industry network and started the Banana Social Society, a place where we can get together, share inspiration and connect creatively.

Present Communications offers new ways to engage with live events

Live events won’t be the same for the foreseeable future but people still want to interact and to entertain and be entertained.  We’ve been making live events more engaging and fun by allowing multiple presenters and performers to interact and be presented in new ways.  The technology opens a whole plethora of opportunity for remote performances and presentations, whether corporate or artistic to be consumed and enjoyed in new ways.

Gavin Buxton Knight creates a promo film for wine company during lockdown, featuring Hugh Bonneville recording from his garden shed studio!

This new promotional film that has recently gone live for a wine company called VINIV.  It’s a new concept from a lovely company based in Bordeaux that helps you make your own wine with a little help from the experts at Chateau Lynch-Bages. Luckily they’d filmed some of their activities last year so the research, scripting & editing was all done from home.  It’s amazing what footage you can source in lockdown when you have the time.  Hugh Bonneville did my voiceover from his garden shed studio! More info about VINIV can be found here where the film sits on their homepage: https://vinivbordeaux.com

Live Union shares tips from their sister Agency Slider Presents on designing presentations for the virtual world

As live events go virtual there’s a temptation to simply lift and shift face-to-face experiences into the digital space. This is a mistake. Great virtual events re-imagine the audience experience, exploring new formats and ways gaining and keeping attention. Screen content is an important part of this, so we asked our sister agency, Slider Presents, to share some tips for designing presentations for virtual meetings and events.

Thank you to all of our members who submitted their fantastically creative work for this feature! You inspire us!
