Creative communications agency, DRPG, have repurposed their recently launched school educational programme, into a resource to support parents who have become home educators for the first time because of this crisis.

The DRPG Academy launched their SPARKS campaign in January 2020, to encourage students to engage with the creative industries. The programme is aimed at 11 – 16 year olds, and uses core school subjects and skills to engage with the creative industry. Each of the six lesson plans is based around the creative work carried out at DRPG and helps pupils see the full potential of their skills in Maths, English, Media, Business, Design and IT. SPARKS offers free teacher lesson plans, worksheets, videos and presentations to bring the exciting world of the creative agency to life through curriculum aligned educational content.

Local schools have been using the material since the launch of the campaign, and DRPG are very excited to be offering a repurposed version to support parents during this unique situation.

DRPG has always believed in nurturing the next generation of talent, whether it be through work experience, educational talks, apprenticeships or even charitable giving via sponsorships. Tommy Moore, Creative Director a DRPG and ex-teacher, says, “We crafted SPARKS to help pupils realise that their school skills can open the door to amazing careers in industries they love – such as music festivals, vlogging, branding or app building. Our job in the programme is to deliver that lightbulb moment where pupils realise their own unlimited potential. Having worked with pupils with behaviour difficulties and those falling through the gaps in education, I know that Sparks offers the chance to recapture those pupil’s attention and help them find their own creative spark.”
