Job description/ responsibilities:

We are looking for a Production Technician to join our client’s Production team. reporting to the Head of Production you will provide technical support to our client’s Director of Programming, programming staff and teachers, presenters and performers, in order to help fulfil our client’s Vision and Mission.

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To provide production capability as part of a team to all areas in our organisation, focusing mostly on the Venue, as well as the Drama Studios, 3 Learning rooms, Zest, Dance and Art areas, Lounge and the outdoor Piazza. To be able to provide production support in all disciplines, specifically lights, audio and visuals. To follow the organisation production set up guidance at all times.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Core Technical Operations

  • To follow the organisation production set up guidance at all times.
  • Programming of patches, focus and cues into digital lighting desk according to needs for event
  • Setup and operation of the digital lighting system for events, such as live concerts, plays, talks, lectures, recitals etc before and after performances, and during intermissions.
  • Programming of cues, stage box inputs, mic patches into digital audio desk according to needs for event
  • Carry out of sound check operation, including backline (Drums, keys, brass and strings)
  • Setup and operation of the digital audio desk according to cues needed for events, such as live concerts, plays, talks, lectures, recitals etc before and after performance and during intermissions
  • Setup of audio visual / video needs for each production from the rider supplied if supplied
  • Programming of execution of AV playouts, programming, PC / MAC usage and programmes
  • Assessment and design of Keynote and PowerPoint presentations when they are not supplied
  • Programming and operation of Qlab
  • Setup and operation of wireless PA system and portable redhead lighting kit, including cabling, mic’ing and charging wherever needed in building.
  • Assistance with setup of wireless or wired projectors, laptops and speaker systems for general AV needs wherever needed in building.
  • Notify Production Manager when major equipment repairs are needed.
  • Operation of film screenings and scheduling the in cinema server – mostly using DCP on a Dolby Digital cinema system or occasionally DVD/Blu-ray /mp4 etc
  • Receiving and dispatching all films as programmed by programmer
  • Liaising with distributors if needed to obtain KDM’s DCP’s or any other material
  • Setup though digitising and ingesting all films from drives and dvds etc. into TMS
  • Operation and memory management of server and hard drives.
  • Ensuring the correct operation of all films prior to screening
  • Fulfilling general usher duties for most screenings, eg. Checking of tickets; Greeting of patrons and showing to seats (where needed)
  • Management of voluntary or paid ushers in cinema on occasion where agreed by Production Manager / management (in the case of sick leave etc)
  • Front of House management of cinema
  • Setup Install, adjust, and operate electronic equipment to record, edit, and transmit video programs, motion pictures, video conferencing, or multimedia presentations.

 

General responsibilities

  • Management of event as Front of House when the Production Manager or Duty Manager is not present.
  • Assistance with all aspects of running a multi-purpose hall:
    • Raked seating
    • Loose seating placement and removals
    • Working adjoining walls
    • Enabling and disabling of show relay system
    • Stage building, planning and dismantling
    • Rigging
    • Load ins and outs
    • Set building / placement
    • Light rigging
    • Light focusing
    • Hanging and moving of drapes / tabs
    • Genie management and use
    • Genie charging
    • Supervision and assistance to ushers with production related issues
    • Planning clearance and show starts and intervals with duty management and directors

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend all relevant staff meetings, supervisions, training days etc.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as required by your line manager or member of the Senior Staff Team.

  • Ability to use PowerPoint
  • Ability to programme AV layouts / playouts /AV Player Pro, Keynote on MAC and PC
  • Ability to programme cues, Stage box inputs, mic patches into digital audio des
  • Experience of working with Qlab
  • Knowledge of Element ETC (or similar) lighting desks
  • Knowledge of MIDAS M32 (or similar) audio desk
  • Working in a ‘customer service’ role, especially in the non-profit sector.
