I am a multi-award winning communication designer with a passion for effectiveness. I work with some of the best known agencies and many of the smaller ones. My usual role is as part of their team, offering the following services for them and their clients: research, communication strategy, creative concept development, pitch writing and presentation, copywriting and speechwriting, facilitation, measurement and evaluation. I work across live events, exhibitions, installations and on-screen media.
My previous career as an actor gave me an instinct for storytelling and audience engagement – two elements I believe are critical to all forms of communication. When I started in this industry in 1987 I called myself a writer. Since going freelance in 2001 I have used the title ‘communication designer.’ I still write but as you can see, the list of services goes much wider than that. ‘Communication design’ is about getting the strategy right, then building the creative concept, delivering it brilliantly and finally proving that you have made a difference. Needless to say, I rarely get involved in all stages of that process. I’m happy to help wherever I can.
